Laxmi Vilas Palace History

Lakshmi Vilas Palace is situated in Vadodara city of Gujarat state. This palace was completed in 1890. It took twelve years to build it and its cost was 180,000 pounds. It was designed by Major Manant, who also designed palaces in Kolhapur and Darbhanga, but Robert Feloyesh Chisholm completed it.At the time of creation, it reminds most of the modern amenities such as the elevator and the interior of the large European country house.

Sarsgaard Lake, formerly known as Chandan Talav, is situated in the heart of Vadodara city. In the 18th century, it was rebuilt with stones and masonry and this lake is full of water all year round. A concrete wall makes rings of lakes that often come here to enjoy the evening.

Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan constructed a 120-feet-long statue of Lord Shiva (Sarveshwar Mahadev) in this holy place established in the year 2002 between this lake.

There are several underground gates that have been built to clear the lake. Water from these gates goes to the Vishwamitri river, which flows through the city. The lake is now being used for boating purposes, and especially on moonlight nights, it looks very beautiful.

Tambekar Wada is situated at a distance of 1.9 km from Lakshmi Vilas Palace. Tambekar Vada is located in the Vadodara City of Gujarat.

Tabbekar Wada is a large, four-storey building built in a rectangular fashion. It was originally the former residence of Baroda State Diwan or Minister Bhau Tambekar, who took over the responsibility of the administration of the state.

On the first and second floors of this old fashion creation, walls, doors, and ceilings are adorned with the best samples of murals until the 17th and 18th centuries.

Other wall paintings coming in the first half of the 19th century represent epic scenes reflecting the lives of people. Paintings are in poly-chrome and the Maratha style of 19th Century paintings.

The EME temple, which is called the Temple of Dakshinamurthy, was built by the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Corps. This temple is dedicated to the southmost temple, it is considered as a form of the supreme teacher in the form of Shiva in this temple.

It is run by Indian army officers, and the sacred symbols of all religions are included in one place because they do not have different places of worshiping different religions. Here, 106 ancient statues of 6th to 16th centuries have been mentioned.
