Sidi Saiyyed Masjid

The Sidi Saiyyed Mosque built in 1573, is one of the most famous mosques in Ahmedabad. Known as “Sidi Saiyyed Forge”, it was built by Siddi Saeed or Sidi Sayyed, in the army of the last Sultan Shams-ud-Din Muzaffar Shah III, one of the Sultanate of Gujarat in the followers of General Bilar Zajar Khan. Rani’s Hazira was made in 15th Century by the great sultan Ahmed Shah. Hazira is a house for the tombs and has served as the last resting place for the Queen of this empire. Outside the walls of these tombs, the walls are made with stunning stones.

This beautifully hand-woven cloth was used to cover Queen’s grave. It is believed that the anchor of the open air design of the courtyard was constructed according to the wishes of Ahmad Shah.

The Queen’s Hazira shows a great example of the complex design and carving work on walls and domes by mixing Hindu, Jain and Islamic culture. To maintain peace and hygiene of the place, the burial place or the interior area is kept locked.

The swinging tower is also known as Shaking Minarates.
